Head coach
Sean Topping and the Muhlenberg men's soccer program have announced the addition of 11 players to the roster for the upcoming season.
"We are really excited about our 2030 class," Topping said of his new charges. "We feel that this class is very strong and will help provide depth in our squad across all positions."
The incoming group is loaded with defenders, as five of the 11 make their home on the back line. Three midfielders, two forwards, and one goalkeeper round out the class.
The Mules will be without the services of a few key seniors due to graduation, the most notable of which being goalkeeper
Ben Mulford, who started 70 games over the past four years and was named an All-American in 2025. Aside from Mulford, the other seven now-departed seniors combined to make 92 starts for Muhlenberg last season, with
Jack Scuro (20),
Trevor Mikuta (18),
Elie Khalil (18),
Omar Lopez (14), and
Sebastian Tis (13) leading the way in that category. Fellow graduate
Sim Dorsey totaled over 800 minutes last season as well.
MEET THE CLASS
About Vargas-Clarke: Vargas-Clarke played club soccer at Ohio State before coming to Muhlenberg for his fifth year. He's been an assist machine throughout his career, having led his OSU squad in assists every year while doing the same at Conestoga thrice. While at Conestoga, Vargas-Clarke lettered three times and was a second-team all-conference selection. His future plans include attending law school.
Why Muhlenberg?: "[Muhlenberg has a] tight-knit family within the soccer program and it is a college with tremendous success as a school and soccer program."
About Buttner: Buttner would have been a four-year letterwinner in high school, but club team commitments kept him off the pitch as a junior. Despite missing that season, the center back finished his high school career with a team MVP award, a Tri-Valley League All-Star nod, and an Eastern Massachusetts All-Star Game selection. Soccer was not Buttner's sole sport, as he spent two seasons on the slopes as part of Westwood High School's Ski team.
Why Muhlenberg?: "It has a good soccer program and a good campus. It also fits my academic level and is a smaller school."

JAKE COOKE
Center Midfield
Bloomsbury, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional
Academic Interests: Business Administration, Finance
About Cooke: Cooke was downright prolific in high school, finishing with the most goals (49), assists (41), and points (139) in Delaware Valley Regional history. He capped off his career with an outstanding 2025 campaign, leading his team to a 20-6 record, a sectional title, and a New Jersey state finals berth. For his efforts (26 goals, 23 assists), Cooke was an all-area selection and earned Lehigh Valley Live's Player of the Year award in boys' soccer. His future plans include becoming an investment banker.
Why Muhlenberg?: "(I chose Muhlenberg) because of the connections I felt as soon as I stepped on campus. Everyone was welcoming, and I was heavily recruited to come to Muhlenberg."
About Huffman: Huffman comes to Muhlenberg as an outside back after earning a varsity letter and captaining the team at Newton High School. As a senior, Huffman played in four games but still managed to total eight points (two goals, four assists). On the club side, Huffman has spent time competing with TSF MLS Next and Cheshire Soccer Club.
Why Muhlenberg?: "The team culture and the small classes."

Academic Interest: Biochemistry
About Leone: Leone spent a year in Italy at Juventus' residency academy. He's another graduate of the MLS Next circuit, as he competed with Beachside MLS Next during club play. Leone's future plans include attending medical school in order to become a surgeon.
Why Muhlenberg?: "I chose Muhlenberg because it gave me the opportunity to chase two dreams at the same time. I've always been passionate about soccer, and I knew I wanted to continue competing in college. At the same time, my goal is to pursue a career in medicine and eventually become a surgeon. From the moment I learned more about Muhlenberg, it felt like a place where I wouldn't have to sacrifice one goal for the other. I appreciated the balance between strong academics and competitive athletics, as well as the sense of community I felt from the coaches, faculty, and students. I wanted to be surrounded by people who would challenge me, support me, and help me grow. I'm excited to represent Muhlenberg both on the field and in the classroom, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of a community that aligns so closely with who I am and who I hope to become."
About Marks: Marks was a prolific scorer and team captain at Danville High School, racking up 46 goals and 20 assists in his career. He earned a second-team all-conference nod as a senior, and competed with LVU Rush ECNL on the club circuit. Marks was also a member of his high school's bowling team, where he averaged a score of 206.
Why Muhlenberg?: "I chose Muhlenberg because it felt like home to me. I felt like I could fit in well, adapt to living there, and make lasting memories."
Logan Mesics (via Logan Mesics)
LOGAN MESICS
Midfield
Germansville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh
Academic Interests: Chemistry, Neuroscience
About Mesics: Mesics was immensely successful both individually and as part of his high school team at Northwestern Lehigh, where he recorded 87 goals and 60 assists over four varsity seasons. He helped the Tigers to four District 11 titles, two Colonial League titles, and two PIAA 2A State Championships. As a senior, he was an all-state selection and the Times News/LVHN boys soccer player of the year. Mesics also excelled in track and field, where he participated in the long jump and the triple jump while nabbing three varsity letters and captaining the squad.
Why Muhlenberg?: "I chose Muhlenberg for the close connection between students and the surrounding community."
About Nguyen: Returning to the back line, Nguyen twice captained Tenafly High School's soccer team and helped his team to a division championship as a sophomore. He spent his club time playing for TFA MLS Next and has been lauded for his two-way play on the back line.
Why Muhlenberg?: "I selected Muhlenberg College due to its excellent combination of academics, athletics, and campus life. The chance to push myself academically while still competing in sports at a high level attracted me. The nurturing atmosphere, tight-knit community, and focus on personal development made Muhlenberg seem like the ideal place for me to thrive as both a student and an athlete."
About Smith: Another member of the back line, Smith lettered thrice and was team captain at Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen, New Jersey. As a junior, he earned all-conference and second-team all-state honors before ascending to first-team all-state status as a senior. Smith led Saint Joseph to back-to-back county championships as well as a #13 ranking in New Jersey in 2025. Despite spending much of his time on the defensive end, Smith finished his career with 29 career points (11 goals, nine assists).
Why Muhlenberg?: "I chose Muhlenberg because of the student life and soccer. When I met the soccer team, they welcomed me like one of their own."
About Snyder: Snyder was a member of the Konkrete Kids during his freshman and senior years and spent the middle two at FC Delco MLS Next. He excelled during his 2025 campaign, racking up 50 points to lead the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference (EPC) and earning Lehigh Valley Live's player of the week award three times. That season culminated in Snyder being named First-Team All-EPC as well.
Why Muhlenberg?: "The campus made me feel at home, and I am confident in the coaches helping me have a successful future."
Devin Tuvey (via Devin Tuvey)
DEVIN TUVEY
Goalkeeper
Lebanon Twp., N.J./Voorhees
Academic Interests: Finance and Accounting
About Tuvey: The final entry of the group is also its lone netminder in Tuvey. Even though he didn't play high school ball during his senior season, Tuvey still holds the single-season and career records for most clean sheets at Voorhees High School. He totaled 366 career saves and earned all-state honors as a junior, when he made 113 stops and led Voorhees to a 19-4 record. Tuvey played his club ball with PDA MLS Next.
Why Muhlenberg?: "I have the best chance of playing here, and (because of the) winning culture in the program."
