Muhlenberg men's soccer goalkeeper
Nico Famularo has earned his first Centennial Conference defensive player of the week nod after recording a pair of shutouts against conference opponents.
Famularo made six saves in net without allowing a goal as the Mules went 1-0-1 last week. He tied his high of four saves in a 3-0 win at Swarthmore, making a pair of stops in the first five minutes and diving to his left to make a tough save of a free kick with Muhlenberg leading 1-0.
Famularo saved another goal-bound free kick in the Mules' scoreless draw against Ursinus, leaping high above the ground to parry the ball over the bar with his left hand. The sophomore has recorded shutouts in three of his four starts against conference foes this season.
This is the second time this season that a Mule has been named defensive player of the week by the conference.
Luke Blenis earned the honor on September 22 for his play on the back line in a couple of equally stifling outings.
