Following a dominant 5-0 win over McDaniel, Muhlenberg men's soccer players Saleem Diakite and Mack Metcalf have been named the Centennial Conference offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.

Diakite had a hand in three goals in the shutout of McDaniel last Saturday, helping the Mules to their biggest Centennial Conference win since 2010. He scored once in the first half and once in the second half for his second multiple-goal game in the last five. Diakite also contributed to the first goal of the game, drawing the foul that led to a free kick that was shot in by Metcalf. The brace moved Diakite into a tie for the conference scoring lead in league games with four.

Starting at center back, Metcalf scored one goal and prevented one in the win over McDaniel. In the first half, Metcalf bent in the aforementioned free kick for his first career goal, giving Muhlenberg a 1-0 lead. Early in the second half, with the Mule goalie beaten, Metcalf sprinted from well behind the play to slide at the last second and keep the ball from going in on a Green Terror breakaway. 

It's the second time in Diakite's career that he's been named offensive player of the week by the conference, and his six goals this season both lead the Mules and are a new career high. The goal was the first of Metcalf's career, and it is also the first time he's nabbed a weekly honor from the conference.
