The Muhlenberg women's soccer team is back home from its preseason trip to Argentina. Here are some highlights from the last few days of the trip.
On Day 8, we had breakfast at the hotel and then took the bus to Estadio River Plate, where we had our match against River Plate. It was a very fun and competitive match!
After the match was over we went to lunch at Banda, a restaurant in the stadium. After lunch we got a tour of Estadio River Plate, including the locker room. Later, we went shopping for souvenirs in the stadium.
In the evening we had time to relax and shop around before we left for our evening out at Aribau. We took pictures and danced and had so much fun!
On our last day we got ready for our departure. After we checked out of our hotel, we went to lunch at Asador Criollo, an Argentine steakhouse.
Lastly, we took the bus and went to the training facility where the Argentina National Team and Messi play and practice at. It was inspiring to see!
"The trip was a once-in-a-lifetime time experience that we all are going to cherish and look back on with fond memories," wrote sophomore goalie
Tessa Pratt. "It was so cool being able to experience another country's culture and seeing how much they love soccer. During the trip we built connections with each other on and off the field that will help us going into the season. From the challenging teams we played, we learned how to adjust to different playing styles, and saw how we can be adaptable and take on the challenges that come our way."
Head Coach
Kathy Prescott added, "As a team, we learned so much about the soccer culture and the passion that Argentines bring to the game. From experiencing three different styles of play that included technical precision, physicality, and off movement to witnessing a live game where the fans' passion was palpable, it was definitely an experience we are excited to bring back as we start our season."
