The Muhlenberg Mules battled the visiting Ursinus Bears for all 90 minutes at Jeff Morris `82 Field, resulting in a 0-0 draw on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.
Scoring opportunities were scarce throughout for both teams. While Ursinus did get 13 shots on net to Muhlenberg's two, nearly all of them were from long distance or right at goalkeeper
Megan Stairs. The few saves that tested the senior netminder, she st with little issue. In the same vein, most of the shots that came from within the 18-yard box were blocked by a Muhlenberg defender and then cleared.
Madelyn Hill had the best opportunity of the day for the Mules just a few minutes into the second half. The sophomore forward found herself with the ball just on the edge of the 18-yard box with the goalie out of position. Once she was able to settle the ball, a Bears defender came sliding in at the perfect time to stop the shot and keep the game knotted at 0.
It's the second clean sheet of the season for Stairs, and her 13 saves match her season-high set against Franklin & Marshall on September 19. That also marks the most saves in a shutout in her career.
