Muhlenberg junior
Christopher Short continued his sprint through the track and field record book, breaking the school record in the 400 meters at the Delaware Invitational.
Short clocked in at 47.96 seconds, finishing third to a non-collegiate runner and one from Division II East Stroudsburg. That easily topped the previous school record of 48.09, which had stood since 2011. Short's mark ranks fifth on the all-time Centennial Conference list.Â
Short, who has set school records in the indoor 200, 400, 500, 4x200, and 4x400 and outdoor 200 and 400 this year, also ran on the 4x100-meter relay team that posted the sixth-fastest time in program history (42.44) and broke the former meet record. His relay teammates were junior
Isaac Schaffer-Neitz, sophomore
James Williams, and freshman
Caleb Pasols.
Three Mule field athletes placed third in the program's first trip to Delaware: freshman
Charlie Vanecek in the long jump and seniors
Avery McNulty in the high jump and
Shira Gamson in the triple jump. McNulty set a new personal best of 5-5, clearing the bar on her second attempt at that height.
Junior
Ella Borello (pictured above left) placed sixth in the 5000 meters, and freshman
Niklas Haraldsson (pictured above right) came in fifth in the 800.
