Two strong performances by sprinters led the Muhlenberg track and field teams at Alvernia's PLEX Shootout.
Sophomore
Christopher Short won the men's 200 meters in a large field of 67 runners with a time of 23.19 seconds. He also set a personal best in the 60 meters.
For the women, sophomore
Maya Richwine came in second in the 60 meters, moving from third to second on the program's all-time performance list in 8.15 seconds. She posted the best qualifying time in the prelims, winning her heat by a large margin.Â
Short and Richwine contributed to two of the 14 personal bests posted by the Mules exactly one month before the Centennial Conference Championships.Â
Three Muhlenberg distance runners recorded PRs in the 5000 meters, with juniors
Matthew Hajel and
Jem Berney both finishing fourth. Junior

Freshman

Three field athletes placed in the top five in their events: senior
Erica Borbi, fourth in the weight throw, junior
Mike Powel, fourth in the shot put, and senior
Mikayla DeMichele (pictured above left), fifth in the triple jump.
