Muhlenberg junior
Sam Roberts added to an impressive list of credentials when he was selected to the Academic All-America® Division III men's soccer second team by College Sports Communicators.
Roberts is the sixth Academic All-American for the Mule men's soccer program, and the first since 2014.
A double major in finance and accounting, Roberts was previously named
Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men's soccer,
CC defensive player of the year, first-team All-CC, and
first-team All-Region V. He is the first Muhlenberg athlete in any sport to be named CC rookie of the year (which he won in 2023), player of the year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Roberts, a three-time first-team All-CC selection, anchored a defense that allowed only five goals in nine CC games in 2025, recording shutouts in five of them. The Mules notched eight total shutouts and ranked 36th out of more than 400 Division III teams with their goals-against average of 0.79.
Roberts served as a team captain and also was an offensive threat with his long throws, leading the team with four assists in addition to scoring a pair of goals. He will enter his senior season with a career total of 21 points on 5 goals and 11 assists.
Muhlenberg finished the 2025 season with an 8-3-9 mark, setting a school record with a 16-game unbeaten streak. The Mules were ranked in the national top 25 during the season and advanced to the CC semifinals for the fourth year in a row.
