For the second straight season, Muhlenberg seniors
Margaux Eripret and
Dan Gaines were named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year.
The team honors one player from each of the area's Division II and Division III programs.
"Margaux is a great person to coach," said Mule women's head coach
Ron Rohn. "She can rebound, she can defend, she can score inside and outside. She's had really big games for us throughout the year."
Eripret has enjoyed some of her biggest games down the stretch, averaging 18.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in the last three games. For the season, she leads the Mules in scoring (11.0 points per game) and is second in rebounding (6.9 per game). She ranks in the top 10 in the Centennial Conference in both categories and has recorded a pair of double-doubles.
For her career, Eripret has scored 580 points and pulled down 366 rebounds in 67 games.
"I've come to realize that I'm a much better basketball coach when
Dan Gaines is playing," said Muhlenberg men's coach
Kevin Hopkins. "Dan's a guy who does it all - he scores, he creates for other people, he plays defense, he rebounds. He's one of those guys that just makes plays."
Gaines played in the first 11 games of 2021-22 before suffering a season-ending injury. He ranked among the Centennial Conference leaders in scoring (18.8 ppg), rebounding (6.0 rpg), assists (4.64 apg) and steals (2.82 spg) at the time of his injury.Â
A preseason All-American, Gaines scored his 1000th career point at home against DeSales in December, reaching the milestone faster than all but four players in program history.
