Seniors
Mark Walter and
Josh Bordwick and junior
Chris Richards (pictured left to right above) have been named captains of the 2021 Muhlenberg men's soccer team.
Walter earned All-Centennial Conference honorable mention in each of his first two years with the Mules. The back started every game played by Muhlenberg in 2018 and 2019, anchoring a defense that allowed one goal or fewer in 27 of the 38 contests. He became the first Mule freshman in 10 years to earn All-CC recognition in 2018, and in 2019 he was named to the ECAC Tournament all-tournament team after helping the Mules to the championship. Walter has contributed to the offense with three assists in his career.
Bordwick played in all but one game in his first two seasons at Muhlenberg, starting 12 as a forward and midfielder. He ended his freshman campaign by scoring a "Golden Goal" in double overtime at Washington College. Bordwick also scored goals against Centenary in 2018 and Marymount in the 2019 ECAC Tournament. He was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2019.
Richards has been waiting to follow up on a sensational 2019 in which he set the program record for points in a season by a freshman with 30. The CC rookie of the year, and the first Mule freshman ever named to the All-CC first team, Richards was one of only eight freshmen in Division III to score 30 points. He led the Mules and tied for second in the CC in points, goals (11) and assists (8). Richards scored six points in three postseason games, including the lone goal in an ECAC quarterfinal win vs. New York University.
Muhlenberg went 13-6-2, its most wins in five years, in 2019 and is scheduled to begin its 2021 season with a home game against Juniata on Wednesday, September 1.
