Postcards from Abroad: Jacob Saxon

We now travel to France to catch up with track and field junior Jacob Saxon. A mathematics major, he is currently abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, at the Institute for American Universities (IAU College). Here is a report on his time abroad.

What classes are you taking?  What class is your favorite?
Abroad I am taking five interesting courses: a religion course that compares Judaism, Christianity and Islam; an art history class about non-European art's influence on European art; beginner's French; a literature class focusing on European cities portrayed in novels and films; and my favorite class, intro to photography.

What made you want to go abroad?
I wanted to go abroad to experience life and culture outside the United States, study a new language, and make new friends.

What countries have you traveled to, which was your favorite?
So far I have traveled around France, Spain, Belgium and Italy with more trips planned. I loved everywhere I have visited, but my favorite might be Italy after tasting the food.8317

What are you doing to train and prepare for your sport while so far away?
Luckily, I participate in a sport that does not require much gear. I have been doing some running in a nearby park before classes to keep up with training for cross country. There is also a track about a mile away from my homestay that I use.

Any words to your team back home?
I'd like to wish Corey the best of luck at nationals. And as for the larger cross country and track & field family, I miss everyone dearly and hope you are all well.
