The Muhlenberg track and field teams wrapped up the Centennial Conference Championships by winning two gold medals and two silver medals on the final day.
Both gold medals came from the men's team in one-lap events, both by considerable margins.
As he did at the indoor championships in March, junior
Christopher Short won the 400 meters. He set a meet and facility record by finishing in 47.79, breaking standards that had stood for more than 20 years. Short won by 1.27 seconds and later added a bronze medal in the 200.
Freshman
Kadon Harris became the Mules' first CC champion in the 400-meter hurdles since 2009, setting a school record of 54.73 to win by 1.15 seconds. Harris, who won the high jump on Saturday, is the first Muhlenberg athlete to win gold on the track and in a field event since 2005. He's also the first Mule freshman ever to win two golds at the CC outdoor meet.
Short and Harris were teammates on the 4x400 relay team, along with juniors
Sultan Almosbeh and
David Seel, that came in second.
Muhlenberg's other silver came from senior
Shira Gamson, who came in second in the triple jump, moving up after placing fourth in 2024 and third in 2025.Â
Gamson, a seventh-place finisher in the long jump the previous day, was one of several Mule field athletes who placed in multiple events during the meet:
• Sophomore
Kelly Stephen placed in an event in each of the three days of the meet, adding a sixth-place showing in the shot put - with a personal-best mark - to her eighth-place finishes in the hammer and discus.
• The CC high jump champion for the fifth time in her career, senior
Avery McNulty tacked on a career-best fifth-place finish in the javelin, recording her best mark on her final throw.
• A day after finishing seventh in the discus, sophomore
Dami Shote came in fourth in the shot put. Sophomore
CJ Mersky earned his first career point by placing eighth in the shot.
• Freshman
Michael Bugler set a personal best in the triple jump in placing fourth, a spot higher than he did in the long jump.
