Tournament PageThe Muhlenberg volleyball team won three of four matches to capture the Gold Bracket at the Greyhound Premiere Invitational.

The Mules (3-2) swept Alvernia and defeated Carroll in five sets and host Moravian in four. Their only loss came in a hard-fought five-set match against Stevens, a team that was 33-7 last year and received votes in the Division III preseason poll.
Senior
Katherine Boll (pictured at left) was named to the all-tournament team for the sixth time in her career after averaging 2.33 kills and 1.27 blocks while hitting .286. Freshman
Kelly Tornetta had an impressive weekend, hitting .378 with a team-best 45 kills.
Muhlenberg breezed past Alvernia, 25-18, 25-15, 25-13, serving up 14 aces in the three sets. Setters
Shannon Hubert (13) and
Vanessa Pulice (11) combined for 24 assists and notched three aces apiece, as did senior
Chelsea Kaser. Tornetta recorded 11 kills in just 16 attempts for a .625 hitting percentage.
The Mules came back twice from a set down against Stevens and played a thrilling fifth set before falling, 16-14, in their final match on Friday. Tornetta led four players in double figures with 13 kills (again with only one error), followed closely by seniors
Sarah Weyhmuller (12) and Boll (11) and junior
Allison Glass (10). Kaser had 22 digs and a career-high 10 assists for her first double-double.
Muhlenberg returned to the court Saturday afternoon to play another heart-stopping match, this time prevailing in the fifth set against Carroll after a 27-25 fourth set. The teams traded points for the majority of the decisive set before the Mules won the last four to win, 15-12.
Again the offense was balanced, with Tornetta and Boll knocking down 12 kills apiece and Glass adding 11. Boll also contributed eight blocks, and Hubert (25) and Pulice (24) combined for 49 assists.
In the first of two consecutive matches against Moravian – the teams are slated to meet Friday in the first round of the Buttermaker Tournament – Muhlenberg fell behind a set before capturing the next three, 25-18, 25-11, 25-17. Weyhmuller
(pictured above) recorded a team-high 10 kills, and Boll added nine kills and five blocks.
