The Muhlenberg women's soccer team is preparing for its 2026 season with a trip to Argentina.
Despite a long travel delay at the start, the Mules made it to Buenos Aires safely. Sophomore Tessa Pratt sent back a report from the first two days of the trip.Â
After a bizarre travel experience and our 12-hour flight, we arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, early Saturday morning. After settling in we left that same day for a fun farm day experience.
At the farm we meet many animals, including horses, goats, peacocks, chickens, pigs, sheep, cows, and alpacas.
Afterwards, we gathered for a group lunch with the other teams and were fed an asado meal, where we tried several kinds of meat, as well as vegetables and empanadas. We also were give flan and desserts with hot coffee, and we danced to traditional Argentinian music and learned some of their line dances.
We were lucky to get the opportunity to horseback ride. We ended the night with team dinner at the hotel and had cheeseburgers.
On Day 2, we ate breakfast and headed to the Plaza de Mayo, the main city square of Buenos Aires. There we saw the Casa Rosada [the presidential palace], and then walked to San Telmo Market where we spent a couple of hours shopping. While shopping we saw various handmade jewelry, bags, pottery, scarfs, artwork, leather goods, and many Argentinian cultural items.
After some fun at the market, we all walked to the Mercado del Centro for delicious breaded cutlets, empanadas, and flan.
From lunch, we traveled to the hotel, got ready for training and headed back on the bus. Our training was led by a professional futsal player Julia Paz! We all had a great time.
After a long day of fun we headed home and went to a pizza place and tried authentic Argentine style pizza!
