Muhlenberg athletes are spending the summer of 2026 enjoying fantastic experiences on campus, in their hometowns, across the country, and even around the world.

Rising junior women's soccer player Stell Del Sordo got hands-on experience in her business administration major as an intern with a major utilities company. 

This summer, I've had the opportunity to intern as an analyst aide with Con Edison, Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc. on the e-mobility team within the Distribution Resource Integration section of the Project Management Department.

My role includes supporting the team's day-to-day operations by performing Earning Adjustment Mechanism (EAM) incentive calculations, assisting with program operations, and collaborating with experienced professionals on a variety of projects. Coming into a major utility company, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but it has been fascinating to learn how such an essential industry operates behind the scenes. 

I decided to accept this internship because I wanted the opportunity to gain experience in a corporate environment while continuing to explore my career interests. As a business administration major, I wanted hands-on experience that would allow me to apply what I've learned in the classroom while discovering what types of work I enjoy most. This internship has given me that opportunity and has introduced me to an industry I had never considered before. 

I am also grateful to Sue McNeilly from Muhlenberg's Career Center for helping me build a strong resume, which made a positive first impression during the hiring process. My business courses at Muhlenberg provided a strong foundation for this internship by helping me build the analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills I use every day.

On the daily side, my primary focus involves EAMs, which are vital to the company because meeting these specific performance metrics directly drives financial earnings and success. By conducting accurate EAM calculations, our team is able to execute targeted customer outreach. This effort directly leads to new program enrollments essential for hitting critical earnings markers, making it rewarding to know my work had a direct impact on the department's goals.

Another memorable project was creating and presenting a sales pitch for our SmartCharge Tech program software to my team. Presenting and receiving constructive feedback strengthened my communication skills and gave me more confidence in a professional setting. I have also appreciated the hybrid work environment, which has given me experience communicating and collaborating both remotely and in person. 

This internship has helped me develop valuable skills in business analysis, problem solving, teamwork, and professional communication that I know will benefit me throughout my career. I have also had the chance to network with professionals across the company and gain exposure to a unique industry. Some of the experiences that stand out have been visiting substations, solar fields, and control centers with the Summer 2026 intern class. Seeing these operations firsthand and learning from knowledgeable individuals made the experience unique and memorable.
