Competing in their second meet in two days, the Muhlenberg track and field teams got strong performances from their throwers at the DeSales Invitational.
The best event for the Mules was the men's shot put, where sophomore
Dami Shote tied for first, sophomore
CJ Mersky placed third, and freshman
Matthew Bertolino and senior
Dorsey Shoultz III came in fourth and seventh, respectively, in a field of 20 throwers.
Shote recorded his best mark of 45-2½ on his third throw, and after he was matched by a Misericordia athlete in the fifth round, he uncorked another strong throw of 45-2¼ on his final attempt. Mersky
(pictured above left) set a huge personal best with his mark of 44-6¼; he had previously topped out at 42-9½.
For the women, sophomore
Kelly Stephen (pictured above right) placed third in both the hammer and discus. Her distance of 137-4 in the hammer was a personal best and moved her from third to second on the program's all-time list.
Other top performers for the Mules included freshman
Kadon Harris, who won the high jump by clearing 6-2 on his third and final attempt, sophomore
Ella Sarnitsky, who tied for second in the pole vault, and sophomore
Molly Curtis, who came in second in the triple jump.
