The Muhlenberg women's tennis team nearly pulled off an upset of 39th-ranked Haverford but came up just short, falling 4-3.
The Fords split their squad, sending five players to Allentown and five to Dickinson, but the Mules, who were 69th in Division III in the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released this week, almost foiled the strategy.
A win by sophomore
Sydney Madlock (pictured above) and senior
Kety Gaidamashvili at No. 2, combined with the forfeit at No. 3, gave the Mules the doubles point.
Muhlenberg also picked up a forfeit at sixth singles. At fifth singles, sophomore
Alexandra Roehl won 6-0, 6-0 against a Haverford fencer who was added to the tennis team this week so the squad could compete at two sites.
That meant that the Mules needed to win at one of the top four singles spots to pull off the upset, but they were unable to despite some competitive games.
