Muhlenberg basketball players Mia Fitzgerald and Liam Gorman were named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Media Organization Scholar-Athlete Team.

The team honors one player on each of the 11 area small college basketball teams for academic excellence.

Fitzgerald, a senior computer science major and statistics minor, has returned to a starting role after missing the second half of last season while studying abroad. She has started all 20 games and leads the Mules with 45 assists. One of the top defensive players on the team, Fitzgerald also is tied for third on the Mules with 14 blocked shots and is averaging 4.2 points and 2.5 rebounds. She will be named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third straight season this year.

A junior double major in finance and economics, Gorman has played in all 20 games as a reserve guard. He is fourth on the Mules in both three-pointers made (16) and free throws made (29). Gorman is averaging 5.0 points per game; his 99 points this season (including a high of 15 against Emmanuel) surpassed his career total from the last two seasons. He will be named to the CC Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive season.
