The Muhlenberg women's basketball team gave Dickinson, one of the top teams in the Centennial Conference, all it could handle before falling, 62-57.
The Mules (10-10, 5-5) took a 44-40 lead after three quarters and extended their margin to six - matching the biggest for either team up to that point - on a putback by sophomore
Veronica Dawson on the first minute of the fourth quarter. They went dry from the field after that, however, making only one more field goal until the final minute of the game.
The Red Devils (13-8, 7-3) broke a 48-all tie with a 12-1 run to open up an 11-point lead with less than 30 seconds remaining. Senior
Katie McGrath hit back-to-back threes, but Muhlenberg did not have enough time to complete a comback.
McGrath led the Mules with 15 points, surpassing 500 points for her career. Freshman
Linzy Roberson (pictured above) hit double figures for the sixth time in the last seven games, finishing with 12 points, while senior
Avery McNulty scored 11 to go along with a team-leading 7 rebounds.
With five games remaining in the regular season, Muhlenberg is tied with Washington College for the sixth and final playoff spot, a game ahead of Franklin & Marshall. The Mules play both of those teams next week.
