Muhlenberg freshman
Sylvyn Parham advanced to the 110-pound semifinals at the inaugural NCAA Regional at West Liberty University.
Parham, seeded fourth, drew two wrestlers who she had defeated previously this season in her bracket and handled both with relative ease. She needed only 62 seconds to build a 12-0 lead against an Arcadia opponent and recorded another technical fall - her 14th of the season - in the second period against a wrestler from Bethany.Â
Parham
(pictured above), who is 23-4 this season, needs to finish in the top three to earn a bid to the first NCAA Championships in women's wrestling. She will have her work cut out for her in a bracket in which the top eight seeds all advanced to the second day. The three wrestlers seeded ahead of her are ranked first, seventh, and 19th in the country. Parham's opponent in the semis is a four-time world medalist who was a 2024 Olympic alternate.
Of the other Mule wrestlers to compete in the regional, sophomore
Kelsey Gelb recorded her 26th career pin in her first consolation bout.Â
