Track and Field Teams Led by Six Captains

Six athletes - three women and three men - were named captains of the 2025-26 Muhlenberg track and field teams.

Leading the Mules throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons are (pictured left to right above) seniors Niki Matthews, Dorsey Shoultz III, and Isabelle Hoffman and juniors Maxwell Broadbent, Maya Richwine, and David Seel.

Matthews has been one of the team's top athletes the last four years, placing eight times in Centennial Conference meets in sprints, hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. She contributed to a school record in the outdoor 4x100 relay and ranks in the top 10 on the all-time performance list in seven other events.

Shoultz is in his fourth season as a thrower, competing most often in shot put, and was named to the CC Sportsmanship Team last winter. He set his personal best in the shot at the 2025 CC Indoor Championships and recorded an outdoor personal best last spring at Moravian.

Hoffman, also a member of the cross country team, runs middle distance during the track season. She established personal bests in both the 800 and 1500 outdoors in 2025 and also ran on the placewinning 4x800 team at the 2025 CC Indoor Championships.

A captain for the second year, Broadbent is one of the top triple jumpers in program history, holding the school record in the outdoor triple jump and ranking second all-time in the indoor triple. Broadbent also ran the lead leg on the outdoor 4x100 team that won a gold medal while setting a school, CC, and meet record at the 2025 outdoor championships.

Richwine is the holder of five school records, in the indoor 200 and 60 hurdles and outdoor 100, 100 hurdles and 4x100. In her first two seasons, she placed in CC events 12 times, winning one gold (in the 2025 indoor 200), two silvers and a bronze. She was a 2025 NCAA qualifier in the indoor 60 hurdles.

Seel also is no stranger to the record book, setting school marks in the indoor 800 and 1000 and outdoor 800 last year. A three-time all-region runner, he won eight CC medals (four silvers and four bronzes) in his first two seasons, finishing second to the 2025 Division III outdoor 800 champion three times.

The Muhlenberg teams began their 2025-26 season with a limited contingent at Lehigh in December and competed with a full squad for the first time at The Armory last Friday. The 2026 CC Championship meets are scheduled for February 28-March 1 at Franklin & Marshall (indoors) and May 1-3 at Gettysburg (outdoors).
