Muhlenberg athletes are spending the summer of 2025 enjoying fantastic experiences on campus, in their hometowns, and across the country.
Rising junior men's lacrosse player Luke Tabasso, a finance major and business administration minor, worked with two different teams during his summer internship at a marketing agency and drew parallels to his experience as a student-athlete.
This summer, I've had the fantastic opportunity to intern at Gen3 Marketing, a leading affiliate and partner agency headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
I started the summer working within the business development team, where my day-to-day responsibilities included conducting cold outreach to potential clients and re-engaging with existing leads. It provided me with the foundational knowledge about the world of client acquisition, and I learned how to adapt my communication strategies when approaching different businesses and decision-makers. Having these responsibilities on a daily basis pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me how to have confidence, all while giving me firsthand experience with sales.
Halfway through the internship, I transitioned from business development to Gen3's influencer marketing team, a small but mighty group that represents an exciting area of growth for the company. Our focus is on recruiting social media influencers on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube to promote brands like Fender, PetSmart, and Chewy. My role on this team involves researching potential influencer talent, handling outreach, and assisting in partnership management.
It has been unbelievably rewarding to contribute to and watch the influencer campaigns I helped recruit for take off, generating engagement via social media for household-name clients.
Gen3's high-energy culture has been an excellent fit for me. As a student-athlete at Muhlenberg, I have found that the teamwork, communication, and fast-paced nature of the workplace at Gen3 feels very familiar, in a good way.
The courses I took at Muhlenberg so far have given me invaluable knowledge to show up and contribute meaningfully from Day One. Although I was not entirely sure what I wanted my professional career to look like when I arrived at Muhlenberg, my marketing and finance classes have broadened my understanding of the business world and taught me how to think critically when analyzing trends in my work, as well as communicate thoughtfully and clearly.
This glimpse into the business world has been incredibly valuable as I continue to learn what field of work most interests me. Along the way I'm learning important lessons that I hope to contribute back to the Muhlenberg community.
