Curtiss Named to All-America First Team

Muhlenberg junior tight end Ryan Curtiss was named to the American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' All-America first team.

The All-America honor is the fourth for Curtiss, who was previously named to the 2017 D3football.com third team, 2018 Lindy's preseason second team and 2018 D3football.com preseason first team.

Curtiss is the fifth Mule selected to the AFCA All-America team, which began for Division III in 1972, and the first since offensive tackle Willie Britt in 2016. The only other Muhlenberg junior to make the team was Rob Lokerson in 1993. The D3football.com All-America team will be announced prior to Friday night's Stagg Bowl.

A first-team All-Centennial Conference selection for the second straight year, Curtiss caught 48 passes for 659 yards and eight touchdowns in 2018, ranking second on the Mules in all three categories. Among players listed as tight ends, he is tied for third in Division III in receiving touchdowns. Of Curtiss' 48 receptions, 39 went for first downs or touchdowns, including 15 on third down.

Curtiss was named to the D3football.com team of the week after catching eight passes for 150 yards in a 34-31 win at Thomas More.

In two seasons at Muhlenberg, Curtiss ranks second in program history for career catches by a tight end with 87.

Curtiss was one of many stars on a Mule team that enjoyed its best season, finishing with a record of 11-2, earning a share of the Centennial Conference championship and advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the first time.
