Chase Kusko from men's lacrosse and
Sofia Gallahue from softball have each been named a Centennial Conference player of the week. It is the third straight week in which a pair of Muhlenberg student-athletes have taken home a weekly honor from the conference.
Kusko added his name once more to the Mules' record books in an 18-8 win at Southwestern last Wednesday. The junior set a school record with 11 points on three goals and eight assists in that one, breaking the previous mark of nine points in a game, which was set in 2020 and tied in 2022. Kusko's eight assists matched his own single-game mark from last year against McDaniel. He was involved in 11 of Muhlenberg's first 15 goals and assisted on five of the goals in a 6-0 run that turned a small 7-4 lead into a commanding 13-4 advantage.
In addition, those 11 points moved Kusko into third place on the Mules' all-time scoring list with 142. He is responsible for four of the five times in program history that a player has recorded at least six assists in a game. He's also just seven assists away from becoming the second player in program history to reach 100 career assists; Ethan Grossman is the other.
Not to be outdone, Gallahue put up monster numbers during the Mules' busy spring break slate to nab the program's third consecutive athlete of the week nod. The freshman hit .571 with a double, triple, and five RBI to help Muhlenberg to a perfect 6-0 mark that included two wins against teams that have been nationally ranked this season. Gallahue put up an outrageous .571/.591/.714 slash line to go with a 1.305 on-base plus slugging and three stolen bases.
The first-year outfielder also had a couple of clutch sixth-inning hits over those six wins. In the sixth inning against 24th-ranked Randolph-Macon, Gallahue broke a scoreless tie with an RBI double, then scored the second run in a 2-0 Mule victory. She also had an RBI single in a four-run sixth inning that was the key to Muhlenberg's 6-5 win at Salisbury. Gallahue hit safely in all six games during the week, including three-hit games against Arcadia and Juniata.
