The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team nearly erased a four-goal deficit at ninth-ranked Gettysburg before eventually falling, 12-8.

The Mules (5-6, 0-2) fell into an early 2-0 hole and spent the rest of the game trying to catch up. It was 7-3 Bullets late in the first half when Muhlenberg took advantage of a turnover to score in transition, with senior defensive middie Thomas Olifiers assisting junior Chase Kusko.

Muhlenberg scored on its first two shots of the second half, by junior Daniel Friedel and sophomore Aidan Fairweather, to close to within 7-6.

The Bullets (5-3, 2-0) stopped the comeback bid there, though, netting the next five goals while keeping the Mules off the board for nearly 25 minutes.

Friedel and Fairweather (pictured above) again scored back-to-back in the final two minutes, 36 seconds apart, to account for the final score.

In addition to Friedel and Fairweather, Kusko and junior Flynn Decker also recorded a pair of goals.

Senior Jace Riley Day made 13 saves in goal, hitting double figures for the ninth time in 10 starts this season and surpassing 200 career saves, and junior Peter Boyd caused three turnovers. 

Senior Michael Drago won eight faceoffs to reach the career milestone of 250 faceoff wins.
