Charlie Kerprich of the Muhlenberg men's golf team put together another terrific round at the John Makuvek Cup.
Kerprich
(pictured above) shot an even-par 72 to tie for first place with a DeSales golfer, who took medalist honors on the sixth playoff hole.
It wasn't a good day for tiebreakers for the Mules despite a strong overall performance. They tied for first place with Moravian with a team score of 312, their lowest since the final round of the 2024 Centennial Conference Championships, but the Greyhounds took home the cup named for their former coach on the fifth-man tiebreaker.Â
Kerprich has opened the year with rounds of 78, 74, 76, and 72. The day after
shooting an eagle at Northampton Country Club, he birdied four holes at the Steel Club, including back-to-back birdies on the par-5 14th and 15th holes. Kerprich also birdied the par-3 eighth and finished his round with a birdie on the par-4 18th. He was one over on the front nine and one under on the back nine.Â
Senior
Alex McCauley tied for third with a 76, making 11 pars and recording birdies on two par-5 holes, including the 530-yard ninth, the longest hole on the course.
Like his teammates Kerprich and McCauley, junior
Ryan Tasetano birdied the 15th hole, carding an 80 for the round.Â
Senior
Conor Mahoney birdied the ninth hole as part of a good recovery after a rough start. He was seven over through three holes but made par or better on nine of the last 15 holes, tying his career low round with a score of 84.
