Two members of the inaugural Muhlenberg team received the NCAA Women's Scholar All-American Award from the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
First-years
Karla Lazaro and
Alessandra Rodriguez demonstrated excellence both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following academic and athletic criteria:
• A top eight placer at nationals and at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Competed in a minimum of 15 matches and has at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA
• Was a national qualifier and has at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA
Lazaro competed at 160, 180, and 207 and tied for third on the Mules with nine wins. Six of her wins came by fall, including one in 31 seconds.
Rodriguez also recorded nine wins, including five on pins, at 117, 124, and 131. She placed in three tournaments, finishing fourth at Ursinus and fifth at Millersville and the Pennsylvania State Championships.
Muhlenberg won four dual matches in its first varsity season.
