Men's Tennis Enjoys Big Weekend at Regionals

The four men's tennis freshmen who represented Muhlenberg all experienced success at the ITA Southeast Regional.

No. 1 singles player Sebastian Meyer opened the tournament by facing the seventh seed, a Swarthmore player who was a first-team All-Centennial Conference selection and earned a regional ranking of No. 15 last year. Meyer took the first set before dropping the second and the supertiebreaker.

In the consolation bracket, Meyer defeated a Carnegie Mellon opponent in a supertiebreaker before withdrawing from the tournament.

Meyer and his brother, Syver-August Meyer, teamed up for an 8-5 win against a Carnegie Mellon duo in the first round of the championship doubles bracket. In the next round, the brother duo (pictured above) drew a Haverford duo that was seeded eighth and includes a two-time All-Centennial Conference doubles player. The Mule team forced a tiebreaker before losing 8-7 (7-2).

The other two Muhlenberg players at the tournament, Matt Miller and Owen Dyer, won a pair of matches in the B1 doubles draw to advance to the consolation final, which was not played. Miller and Dyer defeated duos from Gettysburg and Lynchburg in close matches.
