Muhlenberg athletes are spending the summer of 2022 enjoying fantastic experiences on campus, in their hometowns, across the country and even around the world.
Senior men's tennis player Benedict Kohler spent the summer across the pond as an intern for Warner Bros. Discovery.
This summer, I'm a software engineer intern at Warner Bros. Discovery in the London Office. I've been assigned to the Discovery+ streaming service web team, where I've been implementing new features to make the platform easier to use for both viewers of content and the in-house marketing team.
One of the projects I'm currently working on is a more efficient redirect service to make it easier to incorporate ads into the Discovery+ website. Currently, developers are having to do much of this manually. Now, the in-house marketing team will be responsible for managing their own ad pages, giving the engineers more time to focus on other tasks.
I'm one of two software engineering interns and the only one on the web team, which is really nice as I've had the opportunity to network with senior engineers and directors of engineering at the company. Some of the events they arranged for interns included talks from the CEO and CTO of the company, as well as workshops to improve your skills. Its also just been great working at a company with so many well-known brands such as Discovery Channel, HBO Max, CNN, Eurosport and more.
