Ben Arehart earned All-America honors by placing eighth in the high jump at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships.
Making his first appearance in the national meet, Arehart easily cleared his first two attempts at 1.92 meters (6-3½) and 1.97 meters (6-5½). Out of 17 competitors, he was one of only six to succeed at both heights without a miss.
Arehart missed all three of his tries at the next height, 2.02 meters (6-7½). Seven of the entrants made that height, leaving Arehart in a four-way tie for eighth. He outperformed his seed, which was a tie for 14th.
Arehart is the Mules' first outdoor All-American since Tyler Bauer placed sixth in the javelin in 2014. Arehart joins Bauer (2013) as the only Muhlenberg male athletes to earn All-America honors on their first trip to the NCAA Championships. The program's other outdoor All-Americans are Will Elson (800 meters) in 2003 and John Brodowski (decathlon) in 2005.
