The Muhlenberg men's basketball team received 10 votes in the second
D3hoops.com poll of the 2019-20 season.
The Mules are off to a 7-0 start - their best in 64 years, since the 1955-56 squad won its first eight games.
Highlights to date include road wins against Lehigh Valley rivals Moravian and DeSales, game-winning three-pointers in the final 10 seconds to beat Delaware Valley and Neumann, the latter in the Scotty Wood Tournament championship game, and a decisive 76-52 win against Dickinson in the Centennial Conference opener.
Muhlenberg has received votes only one time previously since the D3hoops.com poll was initiated for the 1999-2000 season. In the Week 8 poll of the 2001-02 season, dated January 20, 2002, the Mules received four votes after starting out 13-3. They lost their next game and never appeared again in the rankings until this week.
The Mules have two tough games ahead of them this week as they resume play following the Thanksgiving break, taking a rare weeknight trip to Washington College on Wednesday before returning home to face Johns Hopkins on Saturday. Hopkins, ranked 15th, is one of two CC teams in the top 25; defending CC champion and defending national runner-up Swarthmore continues to top the Division III poll.
