The Muhlenberg men's basketball team went toe-to-toe with Gettysburg, the team in sole possession of first place in the Centennial Conference, before falling, 64-56.
Neither team led by more than five points until the final two minutes of the game. The Mules (11-10, 4-5) took a 24-22 lead into halftime and extended their edge to five points on a three by sophomore
Jack Woodard in the first minute of the second half.
The Bullets (13-8, 8-1) rebounded to take a 35-31 lead, but Muhlenberg scored the next four points to knot the game at 35-all.
The Mules never led again but closed to within one point twice on layups by sophomore
Arinze Achufusi in the final five minutes. Muhlenberg took a potential game-tying three-point attempt with 1:44 left, but it missed the mark, and Gettysburg secured the win at the foul line.
Woodard
(pictured above) scored a career-high 20 points, making four three-pointers. Achufusi finished with 12, while senior
Nate Hoffman went 4-for-6 from the field and scored 10 points.
