Box Score Rutgers-Newark scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh, the last four coming on a grand slam, to pull out an 11-7 win against Muhlenberg.
The Mules (5-9) had four separate leads in the back-and-forth game, the last coming when senior Danny Usweick
(pictured above) belted his first career home run, a two-run shot in the top of the seventh to make it 7-6.
Seniors
Michael Giordano and
Jimmy Cody had three hits apiece in the game, with Cody scoring the 100th run of his career after reaching on a bunt single in the fourth.
Sophomore
Thomas Yohe hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the first to give Muhlenberg an early 1-0 lead. After the Scarlet Raiders (6-10) tied the score in the bottom of the first, the Mules reclaimed their one-run lead when sophomore
John Icaza drew a leadoff walk and scored on a wild pitch in the third.
Rutgers-Newark again knotted the game in the bottom of the inning, but Muhlenberg scored three times in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by senior
Brett Rosen and an RBI hit by Yohe. The Scarlet Raiders took their first lead at 6-5 with four in the bottom of the fourth, and the score remained that way until Usewick's round-tripper.
