David Anderson and
Matthew Lawsky combined to allow only three earned runs while striking out 11 in 11 innings but received little support.
The Shoremen (9-4, 2-0) used a dropped fly ball, two infield singles, two walks and a hit batter to break open the first game with a five-run fifth inning. Seniors
Michael Giordano and
Brett Rosen each had two hits, but the Mules (5-8, 0-2) did not get a runner past second base until two were out in the ninth inning.
Senior
Nick Plinio had two of Muhlenberg's four hits in the nightcap. He led off the fifth with one of them, a double, and eventually scored on a groundout, cutting Washington's 2-0 lead in half. The game ended with the tying run on third base.
