Box Score The Muhlenberg men's basketball team seemed primed for an upset of the No. 11 team in the country after a Malique Killing layup in transition made it 43-39 with 5:19 to play.
The Mules would get no closer, though, as Dickinson held on for a 53-43 win on its Senior Night.
The loss, as well as Gettysburg's win against Franklin & Marshall, eliminated the Mules (11-13, 6-11) from Centennial Conference playoff contention.
Brandon LaRose led the charge for Muhlenberg with 10 points and seven rebounds. Killing and Owen McLeod (pictured above) each chipped in eight, while Nick Rindock had seven and five rebounds.
Killing's four field goals gave him 634 for his career, tying a school record that was set 45 years ago.
The two teams played to a 12-12 stalemate over the first 10 minutes. The Red Devils (20-4, 13-4) took a 27-20 lead into the locker room, but a McLeod layup with 8:20 to play cut that lead to three at 38-35.
Despite Dickinson giving significant time to four players 6-7 or taller compared to one for the Mules, the rebounds were even at 34. Muhlenberg held the CC's second-leading scorer to four points, nearly 13 below his average, and held the top shooting team in the CC to 41.7 percent from the field.
Center John Hunter led Muhlenberg with nine rebounds to pair with six points.
