Box Score
The Muhlenberg men's basketball team trailed from the start and fell to Franklin & Marshall, 65-56, in its last home game of the season.
The loss dropped the Mules (11-12, 6-10) into a three-way tie for sixth place in the Centennial Conference with two games remaining. To have any shot at the playoffs, Muhlenberg will have to win its final two games on the road at Dickinson and Ursinus and hope for Gettysburg losses to Franklin & Marshall and McDaniel.
The defeat spoiled the last home appearance for all-time scoring leader
Malique Killing, who was honored in a pregame ceremony along with senior manager Tatiana Patterson. Killing finished with 10 points, increasing his career total to 1,887 and moving into second place on the program's all-time list in both field goals and free throws. He left to a nice ovation with 10.3 seconds left.
Playing against a team that dealt them a 28-point loss a month ago, the Mules hung close for most of the game. Franklin & Marshall (19-4, 12-4) led 11-3 seven minutes into the game, but Muhlenberg closed to within two at 17-15 at the six-minute mark.
The Diplomats led by seven at halftime and by nine early in the second half before the Mules cut the deficit again, this time to three points, 31-28. F&M scored on its next two possessions, however, and kept Muhlenberg at a safe distance the rest of the way.
Sophomore
Brandon LaRose and freshman
Nick Rindock tied for the team lead with 14 points apiece. Two of LaRose's came on a dunk late in the second half. Sophomore
John Hunter had six points, six rebounds and three blocked shots, while freshman
Sam McClellan (pictured left) contributed two points, two rebounds and a block.
