The Muhlenberg golf team opened its 2026-27 year by placing second at the annual John Makuvek Cup.

The Mules seesawed with DeSales for second place throughout the day, finishing one stroke ahead on the final hole.

Muhlenberg led by freshman Max Pollitzer, who shot an 81 to come in sixth in his collegiate debut. Pollitzer (pictured above) made par on the first four holes of his career and was within one of par on 17 of the 18 holes.

Senior Ryan Tasetano doubled or tripled three of his first seven holes but rebounded nicely to shoot three over on the last 11. He shot birdies on two par-5 holes, the ninth and the 12th.

Freshman Jacob Grammes shot a birdie on the second hole of his career and finished with an 86. He was within one of par on 15 holes.
