Men's Lacrosse Places Five on All-CC Team

After qualifying for the Centennial Conference playoffs for the fourth straight season, Muhlenberg men's lacrosse placed five on the All-CC team.

Sophomore midfielder Luc Belvill earned first-team honors, junior attack Chase Kusko was named to the second team, and junior midfielder Daniel Friedel, senior defensive midfielder Thomas Olifiers and junior defenseman Brendan Boyd all received honorable mention.

This is the sixth straight year that Muhlenberg has produced at least five All-CC selections. Prior to 2021, the Mules had never had more than four players named to the All-CC team in one season.

Belvill had a breakout season after playing in 11 games and totaling six points as a freshman. He ranked second on the team in goals with 36 and third in points with 42, recording six hat tricks. Belvill netted four goals on only five shots in a CC win against Haverford and scored the game-winning goal in overtime at Ursinus.

Kusko earned his second career All-CC nod after leading the Mules with a school-record 75 points, including a CC-leading and school-record 58 assists. He had two games with eight assists, tying his own school record, and set a school record with 11 points in a win at Southwestern. Kusko will enter his senior season second on the program's all-time scoring list with 184 career points and ranks 15th among active Division III players in career assists per game.

Friedel earned honorable mention for the second straight season after scoring 40 points on 22 goals and 18 assists (second on the Mules). He recorded back-to-back hat tricks in CC wins against Franklin & Marshall and scored a career-high seven points vs. Eastern. Friedel surpassed the 100-point mark late in the season and will enter his senior campaign in eighth place on Muhlenberg's all-time list with 108 career points.

Olifiers served as a team captain and was third on the Mules with 16 caused turnovers, one short of the school record for a defensive middie. He also picked up 31 ground balls, which were the most on the team among players not on the faceoff unit. Olifiers ended his career with 31 caused turnovers and 68 ground balls in 64 games.

Boyd landed on the All-CC team in his second year as a starter. He was second on the team with 19 caused turnovers, which tied for 10th in the CC, and recorded 29 ground balls. Boyd's four caused turnovers in the Ursinus game tied for the most in a CC contest all season. He is tied for ninth in program history with 39 career caused turnovers.

Muhlenberg finished the season with a 10-8 record, reaching double digits in victories for the fourth consecutive season. Two of the Mules' wins came on the road against nationally ranked Cortland and Washington College. Muhlenberg received votes in the national Division III poll during the season and recorded the second-most goals in a season in program history.
