Softball to Travel to Tufts for NCAA Regional

For the 11th time in its history, the Muhlenberg softball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament.

The Mules (32-11) earned an at-large bid and will travel to Medford, Massachusetts for a four-team, double-elimination tournament beginning on Thursday, May 14. Muhlenberg will face Middlebury (33-8) in its first game, with the other first-round matchup pitting host Tufts (30-10) against Alfred (29-13).

This winner of the regional at Tufts will go on to face the winner of a regional hosted by defending national champion Trine in a best-of-three series next weekend for the right to advance to the championship round in Salem, Virginia.

Complete Bracket

Muhlenberg is in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022, when it went 1-2 in a regional also held at Tufts. The Mules have won at least one game in six of their previous 10 NCAA appearances.

The team has enjoyed a historic season, setting a school record for most wins by any team in any sport and finishing second in the Centennial Conference regular season. In addition to wins, the Mules have set school records for hits, stolen bases, shutouts, and strikeouts in a season.

Muhlenberg and Middlebury have never faced each other in softball. The Mules have faced Alfred three times, most recently in 2018, and have two all-time meetings against Tufts, falling in the 2022 NCAA Tournament and winning 3-1 last year.
