A 4-0 start has earned the Muhlenberg football team a spot in the top 25 in both Division III polls.
The Mules are ranked
23rd by the American Football Coaches Association and
25th by D3football.com.
Muhlenberg has received votes in one national poll or both at some point every season since 2015 and has appeared in the top 25 every season since 2018.
Muhlenberg is one of three nationally ranked Centennial Conference teams, and the other two play each other this weekend when new CC member Carnegie Mellon (No. 15 AFCA, No. 17 D3football) travels to Johns Hopkins (No. 3 in both). The Mules are scheduled to host Carnegie Mellon (Oct. 25) and Johns Hopkins (Nov. 1) in back-to-back weeks after playing their next two games on the road.Â
Muhlenberg climbed into the top 25 after a
thrilling 39-36 home win against Ursinus, which was also receiving votes in the national polls.Â
The 4-0 start for the Mules is the fourth in the last seven seasons. Prior to 2018, they hadn't opened up with wins in their first four games since 2008.
