The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team is No. 7 in Region III in the first NCAA regional rankings of the 2023 season.
Â
The NCAA regional rankings are conducted by the committees that ultimately shape the field for the NCAA Tournament. The complete Region III ranking is as follows, with records through games of April 23:
Â
1. Salisbury (14-1)
2. Christopher Newport (14-1)
3. Dickinson (12-3)
4. Swarthmore (12-2)
5. Gettysburg (11-3)
6. York (10-5)
7. Muhlenberg (10-5)
The rankings are based on won-loss record, strength of schedule and results against other regionally ranked opponents.
The Mules have an outstanding weighted strength of schedule of .602, boosted by non-conference opponents that include the top two ranked teams in Region II, RIT and Rensselaer. Muhlenberg has a win against Dickinson, the third-ranked team in the region.Â
This is the first regional ranking ever for the Mules, who have been in or just outside the USILA Division III top 20 all season.Â
Muhlenberg wrapped up its regular season with a 12-10 win at Stockton last night, tying the school record of 11 wins in a season. The Mules will host a Centennial Conference playoff game for the first time ever on Tuesday, playing either Franklin & Marshall or Haverford at a time to be announced.
