The Muhlenberg baseball team scored in double figures for the second straight day but lost at DeSales, 20-15.
It was the third time in the last six games that the Mules (13-18-1) hit double digits. Since a stretch in late March in which they scored exactly one run in four consecutive games, the Mules have averaged 8.69 runs in their last 13 games on the strength of a .339 team batting average.
Although his record-tying streak of three straight games with a home run came to an end, senior
Jake Swerdloff tied another school record by hitting three doubles. It was the second straight day a Muhlenberg player tied the mark; senior
Christian Schwarz had the "triple-double" at Haverford.
The Bulldogs (16-16) scored seven runs in the bottom of the third to open up a 10-2 lead, and both teams continued to tack on runs through the middle innings. It was 17-8 before the Mules scored seven runs in the top of the eighth to close the gap to two. DeSales got three back in the bottom of the inning and held Muhlenberg scoreless in the ninth to close out the slugfest.
Junior
Ryan Riccio went 3-for-6 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored, and sophomore
Brendan Hughes also drove in 3 runs.Â
Freshman
Thomas PranzoÂ
(pictured above) played the whole game behind the plate and went 2-for-5, including an RBI double.
