The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team opened Centennial Conference play with a 19-5 loss at seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall.
The setback snapped a school-record nine-game winning streak for the Mules (7-1, 0-1).
Muhlenberg got off to a good start, scoring a goal in the first minute. After the Diplomats (5-2, 1-0) threw away a pass from behind the cage, sophomore
Melissa Pierpont picked up the loose ball, ran almost the length of the field, and passed to senior
Samantha Eynon, who put her shot in the back of the net. It was the 100th career point for Eynon, making her the 32nd player in program history to reach the century mark. For Pierpont
(pictured above), it was her fifth career point.Â
F&M scored the next five goals, however, built an 8-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a commanding advantage for the rest of the game.
Senior
Emily Gaffney scored two of the Mules' five goals to reach the career milestone of 50 goals. Sophomore
Emily Vaughan led Muhlenberg with 4 caused turnovers and 4 ground balls.
