The Muhlenberg track and field teams got strong performances from newcomers in their 2023-24 season opener at Lehigh.
The top performer for the women was freshman
Maya Richwine, who came in third in the 60-meter hurdles and seventh in the 400 meters. Richwine
(pictured above right) improved her hurdles clocking from 9.61 in the prelims to 9.46 in the final, entering the program's all-time performance list in fifth place. It was the best time by a Mule since 2016.
Another first-year,
Kaitlyn Legaspi, placed eighth in the pole vault.
Freshman
Maxwell Broadbent placed in both horizontal jumps, and his mark of 41-5¾ is good for 10th on the all-time performance list. Freshman
Jaden Snow (pictured above left) came in fifth in both the high jump and long jump.
Sophomore thrower
Mike Powel also finished in the top eight in two events, shot put and weight throw. His mark in the weight was less than two inches off the personal best he set last year.
