Muhlenberg athletes are spending the summer of 2022 enjoying fantastic experiences on campus, in their hometowns, across the country and even around the world.
 
Junior women's lacrosse player Nicole Steiner is spending the summer in the Big Apple, pursuing her passion for nutrition.
 
I have been an athlete my whole life and have always been concerned about my nutrition as a result. As a public health major, I am particularly interested in its relationship to nutrition.  In our society, we have a wide range of issues related to nutrition, such as obesity, eating disorders and food insecurity and hunger. I hope to pursue a career in healthcare or a related field helping children and adults overcome these problems. 
 
I am spending the summer living in New York City and doing an internship at F-Factor, a "dietitian created progam for weight loss and optimal health based on fiber-rich nutrition." 
 
The internship is allowing me to look at all aspects of the company.  I was taught the science behind the F-Factor Diet. Using this knowledge and working with registered dietitians, we create and review recipes and menus and create healthier options. We work to formulate grocery lists of approved foods. F-Factor has a very large and successful social media presence.  I have been working with the marketing department to create posts and promotions with other related companies. 
 
Overall, the opportunity to do an internship at F-Factor has been an incredible experience. I have been able to learn from great people and observe a very successful company in the private sector in the area of my interest. This opportunity will definitely help me to shape my future.
