Sophomore
Joe Repetti tied a school record with six touchdown passes to lead the Muhlenberg football team to its first road win of the year, 57-12 at Juniata.
Â
Repetti completed 25 of 34 passes for 291 yards in tossing at least four scoring strikes for the fourth consecutive game. Three weeks after becoming the first Mule quarterback to throw touchdown passes to five different receivers, he did it again.
Â
Among the receivers to catch touchdowns were three different tight ends – senior
James Nye, who scored his team-leading eighth TD of the season, senior
Zach Deldin and junior
Matt McKenna, who recorded his first career TD.
Â
Two other players scored their first career touchdowns on second-half rushes – freshman
Matthew Manning on an 11-yard run in the third quarter and junior
Jack Machita on a 31-yard scramble in the fourth. Machita's touchdown run was the longest by a Muhlenberg quarterback since 2015.
Â
The Mules (4-3, 4-2) rolled up 575 yards of total offense, balanced nicely between passing (304) and rushing (271). Meanwhile, the defense held the Eagles to 147 total yards, including just 30 rushing yards on 24 carries, and nine first downs.
Â
Muhlenberg forced a three-and-out on the first possession of the game and needed only five plays after the punt to reach the end zone, with senior
Michael Feaster scoring the first of his two touchdowns with a 32-yard reception on fourth-and-1.
Â
The next three Mule drives ended with two interceptions and a punt, but the offense exploded for four second-quarter touchdowns.
Â
Touchdown catches by junior
Aaron Daniels and Deldin made it 21-0, and senior
John Lohrer's third interception of the season set up Nye's 18-yard TD reception with 1:21 left in the half.
Â
Juniata scored its first points on a fluke play on the ensuing kickoff, when senior
Tanner Conlon (pictured above) forced a fumble and the loose ball was picked up by an Eagle player and returned 74 yards for a touchdown.
Â
But the long play gave the ball back to the offense, and Repetti needed only six plays to reach the end zone again, with Feaster catching his second TD pass with just 5 seconds left in the half.
Â
Junior
Keshawn McDowdell led the defense with 1½ sacks, while seniors
Quentin Ogren and
John Washington and junior
Matt Papa each recorded a pair of tackles for loss. Senior
Jack Carroll blocked an extra point.
