Three Named Academic All-District

Three Muhlenberg seniors - linebacker Spencer Kirin, wide receiver Mitch Daniel and defensive end Quentin Ogren - were named to the NCAA Division III Academic All-District 4 football team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

District 4 consists of all NCAA colleges and universities in Pennsylvania. To be nominated for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average and a starter or significant reserve on his team.

The three Academic All-District selections are the most for Muhlenberg since 2015. The honorees will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

All three of the Academic All-District selections also earned All-Centennial Conference honors after helping the Mules win the Centennial Conference co-championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Kirin, a mathematics major and All-CC first-team pick, is the Mules' leading tackler with 75 stops (tied for fourth in the CC). He has blocked four kicks, including punts that were returned for key touchdowns in wins against Johns Hopkins and Franklin & Marshall.

Daniel, a biology major, earned All-CC honorable mention after finishing the regular season second on the Mules in receptions (55, fifth in the CC), receiving yards (746, fifth) and receiving touchdowns (9, third). He has 110 career receptions just two seasons of playing.

Ogren, a double major in business administration and economics who made the All-CC first team, leads the Mules and is 10th in the CC with 10½ tackles for loss, including four sacks. He has also recorded an interception in his first year as a starter on a Muhlenberg defense that allows only 13.3 points and 79.4 rushing yards per game.

Muhlenberg (9-1), ranked 13th by the American Football Coaches Association and 15th by D3football.com, will open the NCAA Tournament with a home game against Framingham State on Saturday, November 20, at noon.
