For the third straight year, Muhlenberg will host a bone marrow registration drive.
The event is part of the #DigInForDuke campaign, which began after longtime Muhlenberg head football coach Mike "Duke" Donnelly was diagnosed with acute monocytic leukemia in the spring of 2017 and chose to use his condition as an opportunity to raise awareness about cancer. He passed away in October 2017, and the College continues to hold this event in his memory.
The registration drive, held in conjunction with
Be the Match and the
Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation, will take place on Friday, August 30, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the GQ Annex. Individuals ages 18-44 are eligible to put their names on the national bone marrow registry with a simple swab of the cheek.
Individuals may register to join the marrow registry on their own atÂ
http://join.bethematch.org/DigInForDuke, by scanning the QR code in the graphic, or by texting MCSAVES to 61474 to have a kit sent in the mail.
The first two years of #DigInForDuke have resulted in 320 names being added to the marrow registry.
Thousands of patients with blood cancers and other deadly diseases could be cured with a blood stem cell donation from a genetically matched donor. You could save a life!
