Following the best season in program history, the Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team earned two major All-Centennial Conference awards.
Junior
Jordy Bonvini was named offensive player of the year, and
Kristen Stuckel was honored as coach of the year.
Three other players received All-CC honors, with sophomore
Amanda Tullo making the first team and senior
Kelsey Nagle and sophomore
Caroline Dolan landing on the second team.
The four All-CC players are one short of the school record set in 2014. Bonvini and Tullo are just the third pair of Mule teammates to earn first-team honors in the same season - the first time both players are non-seniors.
Bonvini is the first Mule to be named offensive player of the year; Kaitlyn McCaffrey was the defensive player of the year in 2014. A unanimous first-team selection, Bonvini moved up after making the second team last year. She leads the CC with 63 goals and recorded a hat trick in all nine CC games, with a high of seven against Haverford and five in the
Mules' 8-7 upset of top-ranked Gettysburg.
Bonvini also set a CC and school record with 128 draw controls. She ranks seventh in Division III in draw controls per game and will enter her senior season seventh in CC history with 235 career draw controls.
Stuckel, along with assistant coaches
Rachael Bragg and
Kiersten Mulvey, led a Muhlenberg team that was picked sixth in the preseason poll to the semifinals of the CC playoffs. The Mules tied the school record for wins in a season (13), set marks for CC wins in a season (7) and longest winning streak (8), received the program's first national and NCAA regional rankings, and were in contention for the top seed in the playoffs until the final day of the regular season. Stuckel has a career record of 142-119 in 17 seasons, including a 122-81 (.601) mark since 2005.
Tullo is the first player in program history to earn first-team All-CC honors as a sophomore. The Mules' second-leading goal-scorer with 40, she scored at least twice in 15 of 17 games and is tied for eighth in the CC in goals. The midfielder also tied for the team lead with 31 ground balls and tied for fourth with 10 caused turnovers.
Nagle earned All-CC recognition for the first time as a senior after recording 49 assists - tops in the CC and 11th in Division III. She also scored 21 goals. Nagle finished her career fourth on the program's all-time list with 216 career points, and her 136 assists rank second in Muhlenberg history and tied for seventh in CC history.
Dolan repeated on the All-CC squad after earning honorable mention as a freshman. One of the leaders of a Mule defense that ranked fourth in the CC in fewest goals allowed in league games, Dolan was second on the team with 43 draw controls and added 15 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
Note: Stuckel was also named ECAC Division III South coach of the year and Bonvini earned first team All-ECAC.
