For the fourth time in his career, Muhlenberg senior Christopher Short was named Centennial Conference special teams player of the week.

Short returned the opening kickoff of the season 92 yards for a touchdown to set the stage for the Mules' season-opening 34-7 win at Moravian. It was the third career kickoff return TD for Short, moving him into a tie for third on the all-time Centennial Conference list. Short is the third Mule in the last 40 years, and the first since 2006, to open the season with a kickoff return touchdown.

Short is only the second player in Muhlenberg history to return more than two kickoffs for touchdowns. He ranks second in program history, and third among active Division III players, with 1,814 career yards on kickoff returns. Short is one of 16 active players in all four NCAA divisions - one of five in Division III - with three or more career touchdowns on kickoff returns. 

The Mules' victory was not only their 15th straight against Moravian, but it also was the 599th in program history. They will go for historic win number 600 when they host nationally ranked Endicott in their home opener this Saturday.
